About Me

I believe growth begins at the root level, where we first gain insight about our past experiences and the influence they have on our attachment patterns, beliefs, behaviors, emotions or communication styles and take action to break out of old patterns to transform our lives. Understanding the reason behind why our responses make sense, instead of judging them, is an important step that makes change easier.

Hi! I am Sanjana Kumar.

I am an Integrated Attachment Theory coach and a trauma-informed therapist based in India. I specialize in trauma-informed attachment repair and relational healing. I offer psychotherapy to clients in India and one-on-one coaching for international clients seeking support with insecure attachment patterns and relationship dynamics. This covers a range of issues such as relational distress, fears of abandonment or intimacy, low self-esteem, emotional dysregulation or emotional numbing, trouble setting healthy boundaries, breakups or grief, narcissistic abuse, trauma bonding etc. I have helped a lot of clients dealing with such issues and I am really passionate about the work I do.

My approach is client-centered and I move at a pace that respects the client’s nervous system and feels safe for them. I use an integrative and eclectic approach, informed by various evidence-based psychological frameworks like Somatic therapy, Coherence therapy, parts work, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and attachment-based work in order to support clients in gaining meaningful change. This would make room for new beginnings, where people can feel more empowered in their lives.

Services I provide

I provide a range of services to help my clients achieve root-level transformation that include-

Repatterning attachment wounds

Our past experiences shape our attachment patterns and when we have insecure attachment styles like anxious preoccupied, dismissive avoidant and fearful avoidant or disorganized attachment style, it can cause challenges in our personal life and hence it’s important to work on our wounds.

Narcissistic abuse recovery

Being in narcissistic relationships is hard and it has a profound impact on individuals who are either stuck in these relationships or have been in these relationships in the past. This is an area I am really passionate about and have a lot of experience working with individuals who have gone through this.

Improving self-esteem

People who have an insecure attachment style generally view themselves in a negative light. I help people reprogram this pattern, as a result of which they feel more fulfilled in life, become more confident in setting healthy boundaries and make better decisions based on what’s true for them.

Working on resistance towards healing

A lot of times, the clients I work with want to heal, but have some internal resistance towards healing at the same time. It is important to work on the internal resistance as well to observe deep-level changes.

Grief

Any form of separation from a close attachment figure can be challenging to navigate, especially for people who have attachment wounds. Sometimes, even if we end a relationship that was extremely unhealthy or toxic, grief can still show up in those cases and it’s important to process that in a healthy way.

Values

Talk Birch is built on emotional safety, clarity, root-level transformation and collaboration

Emotional Safety

At Talk Birch, I prioritize creating a safe space for all my clients where they can be seen, heard and understood. People need to be in a space where they can openly explore their inner worlds, patterns and vulnerabilities without the fear of judgment. Also, all the sessions would be confidential and information would not be shared with anyone.

Clarity

Most of our attachment wounds stem from past experiences that led us to develop certain beliefs or schemas that may no longer serve us. I believe that helping clients gain insight and awareness into the deeper dynamics that influence their reactions is the first step towards change.

Root-level Transformation

Instead of relying on quick fixes or surface-level solutions, I believe deep-level change happens when we don’t just push ourselves to fix our patterns, but instead, we explore why our patterns make sense without judgment and if resistance towards change comes up, we welcome it as a natural part of the healing process instead of viewing it as a barrier and gradually work on changing it at the root level.

Collaboration

I approach this work as a collaborative process where the client’s experiences and perspectives are respected, ensuring the process feels supportive, empowering and aligned with their needs. I believe in honoring the client’s autonomy through the process instead of following a directive approach.

The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.

— Carl Rogers

Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing we’ll ever do.

— Brené Brown

Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it, and embrace them.

— Rumi

Sometimes the bravest and most important thing you can do is just show up.

— Brené Brown

If your compassion does not include yourself, it is incomplete.

— Jack Kornfield

And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.
